“We saw her first, and she is ours now.” The incredibly cute guy said. His muscles flexed as he tensed up, and the leader just laughed. “Really? Do you think your pathetic self can take on deadly assassins?”
“There are others like her, and she is just one of many.” Ginger said.
My eyebrow rose at that. More like me? Ginger was staring at the guys who entered the room, and I was just trying not to shit my pants in fear. I dropped my shield, since it’s not like I’m a normal human, and that is where it gets weird instead of seeing a normal human brain activity it’s just balls of light and energy.
I shook my head of the images. I wanted to break the tension in the room. “What is going on?”
They all looked at me and the evil leader spoke. “You’re the AngelWitch we need. The Dark ones are supposed to show you the way, and with their blood, you can have angel powers along with witch ones.” He said simply.
My eyebrows rose since I felt like I’m in the twilight zone.
I looked at him and told him, “Nope, no one told me any of that, and I have yet to have a soulmate since they don’t exist.” They are bullshit anyway.
He laughed. “They do. Those angels are nothing but goody two shoes, and I might have to have you for myself since you are a pretty thing, and the leader will be happy for me to have you.”
He lunged at me, and I didn’t think as I hid. I was tiny, so I could fit under a table. The battle broke out, and I watched the cute guy battle with a flaming sword. He handled himself well as the leader clashed with him. The clash of the swords and smell of burning flesh were prevalent in the air as the battle raged on. And I held up a hand and a forcefield appeared so they couldn’t get to me at all. A few minutes later, the battle stopped, and the cute angel guy was left standing with a few cuts on his arms but that was it.
The evil leader left and was catching his breath. “We will be back for her, Felix. Expect us, we need her so we can escape from hell permanently.” They shimmered and disappeared.
What the hell just happened? I so wanted a drink really bad.
I came out from under the table and looked at Ginger and Felix.
“Can you tell me what is going on finally?” I asked them, wanting to know why those assholes tried to hurt me.
Ginger smiled at me. “You’re special since you are an AngelWitch. As I told you before, he is yours, and you are his. Your Angelmate is someone you can count on, and one you are tied to since birth.”
My eyes widened. “Is that why I have a stone that allows me to see them?”
She nodded. “Yes, but once you accept your full gifts, then you will be able to see them naturally without help. I have been doing this for a while, and I'm part angel too. And the guy next to me..." she said, pointing to the guy. "Is Felix. He is your protector and your angel soulmate since AngelWitches are a special kind of witch that needs an Angelmate to come into their power. They complete you, and he will show you how to use the angel ones. I will show you how to use the witch ones. It's better than working retail killing your soul."
The world was now spinning... Wow...I just couldn’t believe it. The stones, the negative energy leaking off me when I showered. The people I could read and influence, even read their very thoughts. It made sense now.
“I have been looking for you for a while, and there is a base for AngelWitches. That is how I found you, and I know you are mine since I’ve been dreaming about you since I was little. I can’t believe I get to see you and it’s not just a dream. I promise I won’t hurt you. Ever. In fact, I want to guide you and help you grow,” he said.
Wow…and I didn’t know him yet, so I’d have to get used to having him around. This was all so scary to have my life in danger. And to find a mate too.
"What do I do now? How is this going to help me?" I asked, wondering the next step.
"Well, the dark angels or lost souls came from a dark realm comparable to hell. They use people like you as slaves or kill you to steal your powers. So we have to protect you at all costs," Felix said.
"Thanks?" I tell them, not really knowing what to do.
"The ritual will have to be performed so you can protect yourself. It will also give you the ability to heal faster," she told me.
Felix is silent, then said, "Right then. I will be helping you access your angelic gifts, and you'll be able to fly just like me." And he flexed his wings and moved them, lifting himself off the ground as though he was made of air.
"I can do it, too?" I asked him, not believing I could magically sprout wings...
He nodded. "When you receive your full powers, I will teach you how to fly."
I smiled, thinking it would come in handy to get to work like that. Nope, then again, I could not do it since I didn’t want asshole Kyle getting any ideas. Kyle was a prick and letting him see it would not help at all.
"What about the dark Angels, won't they be back?" I asked.
"They will but as I said, I'm here to protect you. You are safe as long as I am breathing. I won’t allow them to hurt you ever." He smiled at me, making my heart jump since he was a sexy, protective guy. It had been a long day since I was still winding down from the fight. I was happy to catch my breath. And I felt like a drink was in order, too, since I was winding down from Black Friday and my adrenaline was wearing off.
"Thanks and work?" I asked, since I still needed to make money, even if it was a measly $9.00 an hour.
"You can go to the Luxor realm and work there, instead, for more money. The Luxor realm is built for people like us." Felix continued, giving me a way out of Kyle’s for good.
"Or you can go to the Angelic realm called Super Celestial with the Angels. Of course, you have to be careful in not letting in the human souls," he explained.
"Wow...that will be cool," I said.
"Of course, you do have to visit the Angelic realm to have your initiation there, and that's not an issue for witches with Angelmates since they can teleport there," he said.
“This is amazing I mean I have watched movies and television shows with Witches, but I never knew they actually existed.,” I said amazed by it all.
“Yes, I was amazed, too, once I was allowed into the city. Of course, you have to go through special doors, so you won't be mistaken for a lost human soul,” Felix said.
“Lost soul?” I asked.
“When humans die, they come to the realm and get in line with ID cards, and they have to get the cards in the office before they are to be allowed into heaven or taken to a hell-like place like a limbo of sorts, or even to hell itself called Blood Well where the dark angels are. The lost souls are used as slaves there and even tortured,” he explained.
“Interesting,” I said. All this information, too, and I’m no longer just a retail worker anymore.
Ginger smiled. “Being a witch is fun, too, since Luxor has places to sell goods. They even let witches have free housing depending on where you go.”
“I’m really happy to find this out after getting sick of dick Kyle and his bullshit,” I tell Ginger finally admitting to me being sick of all the shit at the retail store where I work.
“I bet I know all too well what retail is like,” she said. She owns a store, and I’m pretty sure all kinds of customers come through here, too.
“Wow…” I can’t believe this is happening now of all times and on my day off, too. And here I was planning on staying in and watching television the entire day. This is so much better than that. My emotions are buzzing all over the place.
“What do we do about the dark angel guys in the meantime? Does this mean Felix will be with me everywhere?” I asked, imagining him going to places with me everywhere.
“I have to until you’re strong enough to protect yourself. Of course, your guardian angel Kalisa is there with you, too, in the store to keep an eye on you and protect you,” Felix told me.
My eyes widened. “Kalisa is my guardian angel? I have known her for a long time, and she never told me any of this?”
I said, wondering what else had been a lie. I couldn’t handle this, so I paced around the room. My heart raced, and I thought of all the times we hung around each other. I thought they were invisible, and I guess that wasn’t the case. She never told me because it wasn’t her job to yet. Probably, didn’t want to scare me either.
“But how are you going to go out with wings visible to the world aren’t they a dead giveaway?” I asked.
He straightened up his body, and his wings retracted and folded up against his body as if they were not there. Just like magic….
“We can also turn invisible to the humans if we wish.” In the blink of an eye, he was gone. I just stood there in shock. After everything stopped spinning, I would be good. Then my world would be full of not normal things, and it would be normal for me eventually. It was still all new to me.
“Amazing, huh?” he asked me. I just nodded, still lost in thought.
“Yes, everything I have known is a lie. My friend is really my guardian angel, and I’m a half angelWitch that has gone so far down the rabbit hole that I’ll need medication.” I took a deep breath, letting it all sink in. Thanks to me being a person who is not human at a dead-end job that makes you hate humanity, anyway. I sat down and put my head down. It’s scary. And I’m just exhausted. Tired from yesterday, and the shock of the battle.
A hand rubbed my back, leaving me a warm fuzzy feeling like I was floating on air. I loved the touch, and I looked up. It was Felix smiling at me. At least I had a cute guy in my life, and that’s the one awesome thing. I have an angel soulmate. Someone better than anyone I’ve ever dated.
“Thanks, I needed that. I just can’t believe I’m something else. It does explain the powers. And my dream about you. I thought you weren’t real. I’m glad you are, and not just made up,” I said looking at Felix and admiring his good looks. No doubt there was something between us since my heart pounded every time I looked at him.
He smiled at me. “I’m as real as you are, and I’ll be yours till the end. I’m happy you exist too.”
Ginger stands in front of me. “We will all protect you, and everything will be okay since you have Kalisa by your side. I will be there for you to keep you safe. It did work for a while, but not anymore since something is happening to make the dark angels grow in numbers.”
I sighed. “I just hope I can protect myself soon since I’m really not the type to need a man for protection.”
“I thought you were that type…” he said shocking me with how well he knew someone like me.
“I have been ever since I learned that I had to rely on me, and that was it,” I told him, really not wanting him to control me or order me around.
“Sometimes you do have to rely on people for help though. Not everyone will hurt you or be abusive either. Sometimes you need people more than you think, and that is why I’m here to help you. To teach you how to use your powers,” he said.
“It does since I have known her long enough to know how independent she is.” Ginger smiled at me, knowing all too well that I don’t need a man to protect me. I just wish I did not have to work for an asshole like Kyle. I didn’t know if I could be that close to someone I just met, and I didn’t know him well enough yet. If he really was my Angelmate, then it meant I could get to know him and talk to him. I wouldn’t say love yet since I barely knew him.
I complied. “Okay, but just until I come to my full powers since it means I can protect myself afterward. Only time will tell what the future holds, and the more I get to know you the more comfortable I will feel with everything.”
He nodded. “Of course, since you won’t need me in that way after you get them. It’s normal to be scared, and you just found out about who you are.”
I left it at that since I got my point across. I got up, deciding to face the music and bask in the moment. My life was going to change, and it would be a welcome one since I would finally know who I was. And I had someone better in my life now. There was more to this world than working retail and drinking till I passed out.
Chapter 5
After that, I asked them the next step. “When will the ceremony take place?” I asked, curious as to how it would work. I hoped it didn’t involve pain or anything bad.
Felix smiled at me. “It will be okay, and we will walk you through it. I know it’s a lot to take in too, and you will adjust to it. Believe me. I was born this way though, and I have been through a lot.”
“In a few days, which means we need to gather ingredients for the ritual so you can accept your AngelWitch powers,” Ginger said.
And just like that, we were off. I followed wherever they were going next. Ginger gathered red, blue, green, yellow, and white candles. Next, was a black stick, or, that was what it looked like to me. Then we collected all we had at this shop. Then we got out of the store, and all of us piled up in a car. Ginger drove, Felix was next to her in the passenger seat, and I was in the back. I buckled up, not wanting to go through the windshield. We pulled out of the parking lot.
Felix relaxed and his blue eyes stared ahead with the seat back.
“We need to make a stop in Luxor, and then take you to the Supercelestial realm, too. The ritual of becoming a full AngelWitch, with full access to your powers, requires two stones an angel one called Angelite, and a witch one called Opal that you have to use in the ritual in order to have full access to your powers,” he said.
“And why does it require that?” I asked. A part of me wasn’t ready for it, and a part of me was. The retail worker in me accepted my fate a long time ago, and the other part, well... It was new since I felt a confidence I had never felt before.
Wow…I was a little scared since it took a lot to prove you were worthy.
“The reason why it takes two stones to come into your power is because AngelWitches are a special breed. Half angel and half witch, and they are rare to find since they can use angel and witch magic and even have their powers,” he continued. I just sat in the car amazed about my life changes.
“Amazing. How many of them are left besides me?” I asked, wanting to know how many more of us were out there.
“You’re the only one that we know of here, and the rest are in Luxor and Super Celestial,” he said
“Good to know that I’m not alone,” I said.
He smiled. “Yes, it is. I have been tracking you, in particular, for years. And the best thing is that we can date our charges, and some do couple up especially if they are Angelmates like we are. This is an unbreakable bond that will form between us once we do the ceremony. We will be able to read the other’s mind, and we are perfect for each other, too.”
“Good to know since I’ve been looking for someone who will treat me right,” I said.
Interesting, too since I thought he was super sexy. At least I finally found out the missing piece to my heart. Better than Austin who lied and cheated on me.
“Would I be able to see my mom?” I asked, wanting to find out the truth of why she gave me up.
Ginger smiled while concentrating on driving. “That is where we are going to head to. Your mom is a high priestess and helps people like you, too. She had to keep you in Crystal Crest to protect you from the dark angels, and now I’m afraid it’s a moot point since they would have found you anyway.”
I smiled, happy to have one more piece of the puzzle.
“Does that mean I can meet my father when we go to the Super Celestial realm?” I asked since he is the last piece of the puzzle.
“Yes, and they will explain to you why you had to go to the Crystal Crest realm. Don’t worry, you’re not the only one that has to go there when they are growing up,” Felix said.
“Good to know it’s not just me…” I told him, and he was silent the rest of the way.
The car stopped, and we got out of the car. We stopped in a forest, and the trees were pretty. It was a space that felt calm, and I could tell there was something different about it. It was outside in the realm, and it felt a little windy. I sh
ivered since I could feel something buzzing near me. I assumed it was magic, and I could feel the pressure of it like an invisible forcefield. It smelled like the fall, and leaves were rustling thanks to the wind.
We walked to a big door that appeared with a wave of a hand and shimmered with the vibrating energy of magic. Ginger waved her hand over it. The door mechanism unlocked like it was a door handle. It opened and we stepped inside. I was amazed at the sight. Creatures of all kinds walked to and from the various shops. It was amazing to see since it was like they lived in their own world away from humans. Amazing, too. We walked across the street, past shops, and we finally arrived at a huge gated mansion. It was amazing. I loved the tall statues of gargoyles lining the entrance, and the closer we got, the more nervous I became.
Felix rubbed my shoulder to release some of the tension I’d been feeling. “It’s okay, nothing bad will happen.”
I tried to believe him, but that didn’t stop me from looking around the area to make sure we weren’t followed by those creepy angels again.
I smiled. “I know, it’s just too much at times, and I need a break.”
“It is but you’ll get used to it, and in time, you will be fully adjusted to it,” he said.
We made it to the front door of the mansion. Ginger knocked using the ornate knocker on the door. The door unlocked and all three of us went inside. The inside of the mansion looked like it came out of a horror movie, and, yet, as creepy as it was, it really spoke to me. I loved horror movies and mainly the mansions that were in them. The interior had red walls and blue marble flooring. I could tell I was in the living room since there was a fireplace and chairs were placed in the corners.
I followed Ginger and Felix down a hallway lined with pictures, and my nerves started going crazy. My heart hammered and my palms became sweaty because of the anticipation in meeting my mom. The closer we got, the more excited I got about finally meeting her. I had no idea there was life outside of retail.
